El ITER utilizará el callejero de IDECanarias para planificar el estudio de áreas potencialmente viables para la explotación geotérmica en Canarias - GRAFCAN - Mapas de Canarias

El Instituto Técnológico de Energías Renovables (ITER, S.A.) es el impulsor de un proyecto, participado por el Instituto Volcanológico de Canarias (INVOLCAN), Universidad de La Laguna (ULL), Universidad de Barcelona (UB) y Petratherm con el fin de investigar áreas potencialmente viables para la explotación geotérmica en Canarias.

Trabajo de campo del personal ITER-INVOLCAN

 

El estudio del potencial geotérmico contemplará tanto medidas geoquímicas:

  • Emisión de Dióxido de Carbono (CO2),
  • Sustracción de gases de suelo, a 40cm de profundidad, para determinar la composición química de Helio (He), Neon (Ne), Argón (Ar), CO2, Metano (CH4), Hidrogeno (H2), Oxígeno (O2), Nitrógeno (N2),
  • Relaciones entre isótopos de carbono y CO2 y 3He/4He,
  • Determinar concentración de Sulfuro de Hidrógeno (H2S) y vapor de mercurio (Hg),
  • Radón 222Rn.

Como geofísicas:

  • Gradiente térmico entre 40 y 11 cm de profundidad y,
  • Magnetotelúrica y Potencial Expontáneo, estudiar la resistividad de los materiales a cargas eléctricas.
Áreas de estudio del proyecto

 

 

En este proyecto, que se extenderá durante tres años, se tienen previsto estudiar las siguientes áreas en Canarias:

  • Gran Canaria. Atidama (83 Km2 y 600 puntos).
  • La Palma. Fuencaliente (20 km2 y 200 puntos).
  • Tenerife. Abeque (100 Km2 y 720 puntos), Guayafanta (100 km2 y 600 puntos), Gareagua (100 km2 y 600 puntos) y Berolo (92 km2 y 600 puntos).

La determinación de las coordenadas de los puntos de medición se realizará sobre información disponible en IDECanarias y la planificación de las rutas de trabajo y el acceso a los mismos se optimizará utilizando el callejero digital.
